Remarkably Mark #5

Remarkably Mark #5: Heritage of Pride Rally in Bryant Park

The kickoff to Gay Pride Week in NYC, the Bryant Park Rally is sponsored by Heritage of Pride. This year's theme is "The Fight for Love and Life". We hear from Matt Foreman of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, interview a Reverend about the Names Project Quilt, talk to some sweaty runners, some perky cheerleaders, and interview my friend, attorney Anthony Brown about The Wedding Party.

Mark -- Again, wow, another great podcast-- from the Bryant Park rally!

Your interviews at the Aids Quilt, then with the Gay Games runner, were terrific. I also saw the displays in Washington in the 90's. (Did you see me?!)

It's incredibly moving, and for anyone who wants to know more about the quilt and some of the "stories" behind a few of the panels, I highly, completely recommend Common Threads, the academy-award documentary (1990, I think) about the quilt.

Finally, the new Remarkably Mark theme song -- OMG ... Hilarious, and how great to include your dog Stiva!

Michael, at least it will help get the Wanda song out of your head!

Brian, that is a good documentary. Lot's of great movie recs coming here! (between the Fire Island movie, Gay Sex in the 70's, the Wim Wenders film and this...)

And the lyrics and music was 100% John. He's brlliant.

Mark,

great show, enjoyed the interview with Gay games Athlete, I have not heard much about the games and did some research this year after hearing an interview with an athlete from NYC that is a sports writer (can't remember his name). I enjoy the topic and would like to get to the games sometime - one of my goals. Like the theme song too
